Hellenic Cosmos is an interactive museum in Athens in an area of 63000 m2. The museum was established in 1998 and uses the modern technology and virtual reality in the exhibition. Virtual reality as a new and innovative technology offers the chance to visit places where we can never go because of lack of time or other reasons or some places which are never exist any more. Although virtual reality can never substitute the real experience but with the help of this technology visitors can learn more about culture, history since they can participate actively and in that way imagine easily what happened in the past. In the Hellenic Cosmos two innovative virtual reality systems are used, the „Kivotos” and the „Magic Screen”. First one is a spectacular virtual reality environment where visitors wear stereoscopic 3D glasses and using a small navigation devise. In that way they can participate actively in the journey through the history. The other system, the Magic Screen is a large virtual reality display shaped as a drafting table.
